SANParks has three EPWP opportunities for Semi-Skilled Environmental Monitors based at Agulhas National Park. Contracts run until 31 March 2026. Successful candidates report to the Section Ranger/Ranger Sergeant and will support daily conservation and monitoring operations in the park.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12/NCV Level 4
  • Fit for fieldwork; will undergo medical fitness exam
  • Willing to work shifts/weekends/after hours
  • Good communication; basic Health & Safety awareness
  • No criminal record (SAPS check)
  • Advantageous: Computer literacy; Basic Firefighting
  • Preference: Ages 18-35

Key duties

  • Assist with tools, vehicles, herbicides, stock, assets, and basic infrastructure care
  • In-field admin: timesheets, H&S checklists, logbooks, reports
  • Record resource management and ecological monitoring data
  • Support fire management and fence integrity checks/clearing
  • Invasive Alien Species clearing and restoration work
  • Waste management reporting and programme support
  • Community/environmental awareness activities
  • Support other conservation tasks and ad-hoc duties as required

Pay & conditions

  • Wage: R208/day (EPWP rate)
  • Contract end: 31 March 2026
  • Accommodation/Transport: Not provided – candidates must arrange their own
